    Home Office

Given that a self employed person has a business located X number of miles from his qualified home office. All mileage to and from his qualified home office to his place of business becomes deductable.

Is there any restrictions on how far the home can located from the business?

If he has a "home office" for his convenience only... No deduction. If he his home is indeed his tax home then it doesnt matter. Hope that helps.

It all boils down to the question what his main place of business is.

Should have been a little clearer........his home office qualifies because he conducts all the administrative and/or management duties there because there is no other fixed location to do this, therefore he can deduct his mileage to and from his actual business location.
