Just talked to my software and they said to mail the rebates for the elderly. Thought I could transmit it and so much easier that way. But glad they can get something this way at least.

Shame on Congress, our President and our nation!

Clarity
Josh: Just as a matter of clarity (assuming there is any such thing when it comes to government programs), the President didn't initially propose the giveaway portion of the rebate for those who don't pay taxes. That was tacked on by Congress because they didn't think the vote-bying potential of the original was rich enough. And since many of them are up for reelection..."The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectful" - John Kenneth Galbraith

It's not a tax rebate program

I know. They really don't have anything better to do, do they? My IRS customer service office is right down the hall from me ... gorgeous, spacious, modern and a real improvement over what they had before they moved (which was BTW in the middle of a former tax season). I know how much rent they pay because I did books for the bldg's owner. Only problem is, we got a new commissioner who doesn't care about customer service any more and the five (really great) employees all took early retirement or left, they let the receptionist go, so now there is "ONE" fellow in there for the entire metropolitan area who sees people "by appointment." The TP takes a number to ask a question and waits until he may be free.
