    Previous Rebate Payments Question

Received a phone call today from an individual that said a woman in a CPA office told her that it was not too late to file a return for the year that the previous rebate was given and to get that rebate. The only income they receive is SSA.

This is the first time that I have ever heard this question and, to be honest, don't know where to start looking for the answer.

    Any ideas?

Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

The last one I know of was the telephone excise tax rebate which we all remember,
but no more checks could be sent out after 12/31/2007. So no return for that year for that purpose at this late date.

The only other "rebate" was the advance refund back in .. oh.. 2000? 2001?
(time sure flies when you're having fun.)

Agree w/ ChEAr$ - possibly the telephone excise tax credit for Federal, but is there anything available for your state?

Harlan - She was talking about the last $600, I think, rebate that they did not get. I thought it was several years ago, but can't remember. She was saying that it was only 2 years ago and since I did not remember for sure (old timers disease) I said that I would have to check it out. I thought it was 4 to 5 years ago - but what do I know?

It was 2001. I think she can forget it.
