    Married filing separate deduction split

I am married filing separate. I live in Ohio a non-community property state. I would like to know if I can take all (100%) of the mortgage interest deduction and property tax deduction when our home is jointly owned and the mortgage is also in my wife and my names. We have paid these from a joint account. On her return we would deduct nothing for these two items.

    Thanks in advance,

If you itemize, then she must itemize or take zero as the standard deduction. If there is Earned Income Credit involved, you loose that and maybe some other credits/adjustments to income.

But what about the actual allocation of the itemized items amounts? Does it have to be 50/50, based on ownership, or allocated any way we want. (It comes out better if I take all of the deductions and she takes none)
