This time of year even a little thing can be exciting. Walmart is figuring basis! Everyone probably knew this already, but I was ready to add up and figure client's basis like I always do when they sell stock at Walmart and lo there was it all figured for me.

Your were lucky
My client that sold Wal-Mart stock, it appeared that records were too old or unavailabe. So I had to dig through my records, of which I didn't have all because of acquiring the client in 1998.
Thank goodness for what I did have, and the fact that I could go to the Wal Mart site and find dividends and splits.
so it was a best guestimate based on available..
