I want to make sure our coverage of the new uniform definition of a qualifying child is clear to everyone.

This would be a major accomplishment!

I have read through the code and gone through many examples, but I found myself describing someone the other day who was, for HOH purposes a "nonqualifying unrelated qualifying relative."

Well, I knew exactly what that meant.

As I posted elsewhere on this forum, the IRS website example of the niece and her son is so wrong that it indicates that the IRS does not clearly understand these rules.

It seems to me the FAQ was originally intended to be more comprehensive. The answer is correct as far as the niece goes, and the son also qualifies as a dependent. When the explanation got too long, it was shortened in bureaucratic fashion. Just guessing.
