    Commercial Fisherman

I have a client who had to do repairs to his shop where he works on his traps, paints bouys and does repairs on equipment. He had to do about $7,000.00 in repairs to the electrical and $21,375.57 repairs to the shop itself to make it structually safe.

I was thinking maybe I could take the Electrial Repairs as a direct expense, because he had to replace the old wiring.

Then on the $21,375.57 I'd depreciate at 39/40 Non Residential.

Any in put would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

I agree. The $ 21K repairs would probably increase the life of the building ( so it wouldn't collapse). Thus, capitalize it.
