    Nonqualifying children & stimulus payment

A qualifying child must be under 17 to be eligible for the $300 extra stimulus payment for parents.

What happens to the nonqualifying childre ages 17 to 23?

If they are claimed as a dependent on parents tax return parents will not receive any extra payments so if they have income and file a tax return will they receive a stimulus payment?

    Nothing "happens" to them.

I thought about that just today. Daughter, age about 38 is disabled and draws SSI, and I
suppose could file, claiming herself, but mother would then lose out on EIC.

In short then, a shiftless, jobless, worthless stay at home son who can't hold a job and
won't look for one, whose parents won't kick him out, isn't worth anything, not even 300$.

      From IRS website:

Taxpayers who had a net income tax liability will receive a payment, unless they can be claimed as dependents on someone else’s return."
