My client was divorced last year. He has a 1099-B $11,000 issued in his name and s/s. He claims that was part of the divorce settlement and belongs to his ex. He said I have the divorce papers that say so. I told him that's not good enough for the IRS. Also told him to get a corrected 1099B with his ex's s/s and name on it.
Does anyone know of any other way to transfer the 1099 over to her without doing a correction?
Thanks.
Larry
