    Student in NV with wages

Client is a CA resident and CA taxpayer. Client's daughter lives and goes to school in NV.

Daughter worked while in school in NV.

Q: does the daughter file a CA tax return showing the NV wages and pays taxes in CA for said wages?

    Calif Resident?

This link might assist you. http://www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/06_forms/06_1031.pdf

I believe it is going to depend on the students domicile and factors for residency. If she still maintains drivers license, auto registration, etc in Calif, then she is a resident of Calif, her domicile is probably also Calif due to her parents living here and the ties to Calif.

Utah had an example which I believe follows closely to Calif. http://incometax.utah.gov/residency_students.php

After reading the site provided by Sandy and discussing briefly with the client, the daughter is a NV resident.
