    Child care credit

I guess it is pretty obvious that MFJ (husband only working) cannot take the child care credit for kindergarten and camp fees at a private school? I know this is true, but want to make sure I have not left out something that is doable in anyway. I feel like I am already zoned out with tax season, and it is just getting started.

    Thanks for your help

Basicly, yes. Some exceptions - wife a student, I believe disabled but you should check instructions for Form 2441, I'm sure they are all covered there.

This is how I feel - rebate news seems to have all my clients wanting to file yesterday. But I do not believe ther is any deduction for for overnight camp or kindergarten even if wife is working, a student, or disabled - or am I missing something?

        Education

IRS Pub 17 page 212 covers the education expenses. Basically education before Kindergarten (so for example preschool) are expenses for care. Kindergarten and beyond "are not expenses for care."

Same page also covers overnight camp.
