Partnership EIN

Mornin Folks:

Prospective client and friend have entered into a partnership agreement in 2007, they have no EIN. They said another preparer told them they didnt need one. if he is right how would I handle it? Blank, SS#, all zeros, applied for or? in the EIN box.

Partnership must have EIN. If you want to show them proof go to the IRS website and enter the question "Do I need to have an EIN" and look under partnerships.

...unless it's just a joint real estate venture. Each partner then would report share of income and expenses on their Sch.E's/
