    Lacerte-mortgage interest

Just discovered a complete section dealing with mortgage interest in the input section for itemized deductions. It appears it will track loan balances, excess interest and equity debt.

    Sweet!

Thanks; it’s about time they put that option in.

Cool.. I just found it at the bottom of Lacerte's itemized deductions tab. Thanks for pointing this out Veritas.

At first glance at the program this year it appreared that Lacerte made very few changes to the program. However as I have begun to actually use it I see that they did make a lot of little changes and on there own are not really noticable but once you put all of these together they actually are pretty good.

I don’t know if you notice, but Lacerte added Schedule D Import Wizard.
This wizard simply guides you through the process of importing Schedule D data into the tax
Program from an Excel spreadsheet (or any comma delimited text file such as a .CSV file).

          Access this from screen 17

I like the new the new mortgage interest fields in Lacerte. It will be a PITA to get the input for this year, but will be a huge benefit for future years. I have been asking for this for years.

Lacerte also added additional fields to reconcile the ending K-1 Capital Account to the tax basis account (share of liabilities). This will be a PITA for the first year, but after that it will be a big help.

I have been using Lacerte for almost 25 years. They are great!

              Worksheet

Would one of you guys be willing to print up and fax me a blank worksheet that shows the tracking of the limitation? If so, let me know and I'll leave my fax or email in your PM box. I would really like to look it over.

              Thank you,

              Dennis

                Print Screen

I, like Dennis, would also be interested in this. Is there a way to print screen your input on Lacerte, so it would provide something similar to a worksheet?

The mortgage interest limitations with all of the the refinances in Calif is going to give us a headache, I am sure.

                Thanks,

                Sandy
