My Dad paid $17,000 for his house back in 1964. That represents $102,605.12 today. But the market value of his house today is actually over $300,000. So he beat inflation by a 3 to 1 ratio.

Inflation Calculator

That calculator does not seem to be correct in regard to real estate values. I just sold a house days ago for 2 1/2 times what I paid for it in 1992. This may just show that real estate for now is the best investment for us. Unless I change my mind I dont want to own anything again.
