    Residential Energy Credit

What do you require your clients to have/provide before you take this credit.

Had a client who replaced exterior door and storm door. Has receipt for doors but nothing to certify they meet SEER requirements. Was told by store clerk they would be eligible for a credit on doors.

Another client installed pigmented metal roof. Installer purchased roof and client does not have verification that roof meets SEER requirements.

Would you take credits based on this or would you strictly only do credits when they can provide certification of qualification.

    Energy Star Website

Here is a link to a pretty comprehensive website that covers what qualifies for the credits

ENERGY STAR makes it easy for consumers and businesses to save money and protect the environment.

You could suggest client go back to the store/installer that did the work and ask for the certification statement or that they go to the manufacturer's website to try and find it. I installed a new storm door and exterior door and the manufacturer's website had all the information I needed.
