    roth IRA

My client got 1099R for Roth IRA distribution with code "J".

I thought that only earnings is taxable and not contribution as it is after tax.

I did not see Contribution on 1099R. Do I need to back out contribution from gross distribution? Or may be check with client?

    Please help

You need to fill out part III of Form 8606 to see if any of it is taxable.
