    Hsa Reporting On W2's

    I am lost,

    client started a hsa in 2007 that is employyee fuinding through a 125 plan, which means their contruibuations are pre tax. I have read where I need to include on 12a with code w

    can someone help me?

    The Employer contributions to the HSA need to be reported in box 12 w/ a code W. Some states do not follow Federal deductions w/ the HSA so although not taxable for Federal it may be taxable for your State. Th

        You have to know

        your employer contributions to compute if you have any deductions for an HSA. When you make out the form it asks for employer contributions and taxpayers to first determine if you exceeded the limit on your contributions. If the employees HSA is funded with 125 contributions only there obviously is no HSA contribution deduction for the taxpayer.

          If it was funded through a 125 plan, there's no deduction regardless.
