I had a question regarding insurance. I am a stay-at home mom and self-employed tax preparer. I am entering my 4th season of preparing income taxes (did 50 returns last year) and began to wonder about insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations for my current situation for any/what type of insurance I should carry? I hope to grow my business a little each year and thought maybe some sort of inexpensive liability insurance might be a good idea. Thanks!

I carry
a rider to my home insurance policy. It is a seperate "adder" for home business. In addition, I have an umbrella policy. Maybe you might want to call your home insurance agent to see what is available. I see you are in MN and during inclimate weather it's easy to slip and fall on the sidewalk/driveway. (how well I know). I would hate to have a small claim from a client for medical attention as it may erase my tax prep income for that year.

thanks for the information Larry
By the way, I haven't been on for a while, but I did catch up a little on some recent posts and I just wanted to say thank you for keeping everyone updated on Bird Legs. I too send my prayers to him and his family. I have experienced 2 tragic losses in recent years and I know too well some of what they are going through right now.
I'll give my agent a call; she'll love the business as I've given a lot more with our recent new home construction going on! Ugh, I'll have insurance for just about everything in my life now; such is life.
Thanks!

Apple Valley
is about 30 miles south of Minneapolis. I used to live in Duluth. Junior and Senior year at Duluth Central. We go to Lutson every year for our anniversary. Then some weekend trips to Duluth and stay at The Inn on Canal Parkway. If you email me we can stay in touch via that method.
