    Potential divorce problem

Individual is in process of getting divorce. Because of wife's problems with DSS, husband has temporary and is trying for, and will probably get permanent custody of child.

Potential problem - Wife was tax preparer, handled all paperwork and would not allow husband access to the information. Now, she is not cooperating by giving up child's social security number, copy of past returns, etc.

Question - If husband signs POA, can the past returns be gotten from IRS? Since they were filed as MFJ, will this be denied without both signatures?

Has anyone run into this before? All advice and education appreciated.
Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

    What is DSS?

Husband can get copies from IRS himself.

Can't his attorney demand these and get these sooner than getting them from the IRS?

DSS - Dept. of Social Services in their state, called DHHS here in Arkansas. They are the ones that remove children from homes, do abuse investigations and run the foster care homes, etc.

At this point, she does not respond very well.
