I am so glad that I found this board! You all really keep me on my toes. I can ask what I think is a fairly simple question and find out that I have missed something really important.

For all of us that are working alone and don't have someone to bounce ideas and questions off of in our office, this board is a lifesaver.

I thank all of you for your discussions of all the topics. I try to read as many as I can. I learn so much from this board and just reading the threads that show up. It really makes me feel good to be part of a group of people who are willing to take time out of their day and share their knowledge with others. We are all so busy but this helps all of us to keep doing our very best work.

I also am a sole practitioner that enjoys reading AND LEARNING from posts of other practitioners on these forums - not only from this board - but others as well.

What I do when I see a question asked and reliable responses - is make a printout copy of it and put it in the my clients' files that it pertains to.

NOT NECESSARILY THAT THE POSTS ARE THE ANSWER, but they give me guidance of where to look in tax research for a reliable source.

These boards are not, and should not be used for, a tax research substitute.

But it is a relief to know that I'm not the only practitioner experiencing a specific problem.

What I do when reading the board is to tell myself what I believe the answer to be. Then wait for the "wisdom and experience" to answer.

Sometimes, I will be right on and other times I'm close. And on some rare occasions, I'm shocked I was so far off . I also print up several threads and read and reread.
