    Wedded to Australian

She left the US in January '06 and married an Aussie in February. Came back to states from May - August. Her W-2's from US totalled around $13,000 (original employer and then same company but a temp firm for work done in the summer here.)

Her Visas for 2006 were "provisional resident" and then" temporary resident visa" beginning in 8/06. She did not work in Australia until 1/07.

I assume that she files M/separate. Her spouse does not have a SS #. Do I just put his name on the return without the SS number and no income for him ?

    Tax Return

File a Married Filing Seperate return, list your spouse as a dependent. Fill out Form W-7 application for a TAX PAYER ID Number and mail both to the address listed on form W-7.

Your Spouse cannot be claimed as a dependent by another person.

If you have trouble with W-7 you can call 1-215-516-2000 and choose option 3.

This assumes that your spouse had no foreign income.

I believe this is the correct procedure.

Put a shrimp on the barbie.
Then after consuming it, say, "Good 'ay.
