    2007 Web CD

    Nice Cat.

Impressive show, too. Since we will be able to update these CDs periodically, will the shipping date be appx the same as the hard copy books? I received my book shortly before Christmas last year, which amazingly included a last-minute December 8th congressional law change.

Hi Brad, nice meeting and watching you. I bet you cleaned your office quite a bit before doing this video.

Very impressive, almost too good to be true. I am sure glad how much easier this CD is navigating. I had problems with the first CD and wished someone had taken my hand and guided me through. Well, you did and I assume I will see you again on the real CD?

        Brad Pitt

Gabriele, I think Imsdahl was going to hire Brad Pitt to do the video and say "Hi! My name is Brad" so TTB female customers could undergo a meltdown right there on the spot.

Aside from having to pay Pitt enough to jack up the TTB price by $25 per book, the worst part was having to train Pitt so he would know enough about taxes to speak the language.

That's OK. If I need tax help, I'll take Imsdahl any day of the week. Sorry, Ladies!

          I like it too

Just took a quick peek at it - I'll definitely be ordering for 2007.

              Web CD

Considering the time TTB had in putting together the 2006 Web CD, it was pretty good. Now that the 2007 Tax Book is reorganized with all that was talked about in early 2006 from board members at that time, when we were asked to provide a "wish list", it is exactly what we wanted AND MORE.

              Brad and TTB, Thank You>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The advertised scheduled release date is January 15th, 2008. This year I guarantee we won’t be late, as we are developing this new version in house. The January 15th date allows us to get most of the 2007 IRS publications included on the initial CD. Yes, we can update the thing as often as we want to, but to hold the size of the update files down, I would like to get as much of the new pubs on there as possible before resorting to the update process to download IRS publications.

We plan on making all help questions into a series of short video clips demonstrating various Q&As. Probably an introductory video like the one on the demo CD, plus a series of short less than one minute segments that answer specific questions. So for example, you have a question on how to perform a search; under the help menu, one of the video links will take you to a clip less than one minute that demonstrates the search feature. You won’t have to watch the whole video over and over again to answer one specific question.

                I appreciate the compliments.

A side note: For those who purchased the 2006 WebCD, we will be shipping to you in the next few weeks the 2006 WebCD Upgrade Edition that you saw me demonstrate on the video. The demo version only has a few Tab sections and a few government documents. The Upgrade Edition is the entire 2006 WebCD using this new format, which includes the Update Content feature. We still plan to release a few more updates for the WebCD before the end of the season. Whenever a new update to the WebCD is available, an email will be sent to all of those who signed up for the Updates in Your Inbox feature from our Website. That way in the future, the same email that tells people there is an update on our website will also be told the WebCD has a new update ready for downloading.

                  Icons

Brad> can I assume you will have the year imbeded on your Web CD icon for my desk top? Or will one icon bring me to a choice of years to pick from?

                    Pricing Question

Brad: Would you be willing to offer any special pricing for customers who bought the book only for 2006 and would now like to add the Web CD for 2006, maybe while also signing up for the 2007 Web CD?

                      Nice video - almost sold

                      My questions:

                      1. Do you have to be online to use thetaxbook to go to the specific IRS information?

                      2. Can you download the updates onto a blank CD on one computer and take it to the computer that has the Web CD?

The Demo version icon on your desk top says TheTaxBook 2006 WebCD Demo. The Upgrade Edition being sent to all who purchased the WebCD for 2006 will have an icon that says TheTaxBook 2006 WebCD. The 2007 version will place another icon on your desk top that says TheTaxBook 2007 WebCD.

The shortcut to the home page for each version is also placed in the Start Programs menu, along with an uninstall icon for when you eventually want to remove it from your computer.

I will pass that question on to our marketing people who decide those things. I know that they ordered a limited number of CDs that are being shipped to all 2006 WebCD customers. I don’t know how many extra copies were ordered. I’m sure if enough people called requesting the 2006 WebCD Upgrade Edition, we could order more copies.

                        1. The IRS pubs, forms, instructions, revenue rulings, court cases, etc. that are linked from TTB are all installed onto your hard drive. As I stated on the video, installing all of this data on your hard drive means when you click on a link to an IRS Pub, it appears almost instantly. Links to data from a web site take time to download. The only thing that will take time with our WebCD is when you decide to download one of our updates.

For those of you who go to the IRS Website to look up information in the IRS Pubs, our WebCD will save you tons of time, as it is so much easier and faster finding the Pubs on our WebCD.

                        2. If you know how to do it, when you click on the link to download the update, choose “Save” instead of “Run.” Then save the executable file into a temporary folder on the hard drive, such as your My Documents folder. Then if you have a writable CD Rom drive, you can take a blank CDR and copy the executable file onto the CD and take that disk to the computer that has the WebCD. Then double click on the executable file and choose to install the update into the same location where the original WebCD program was installed.

One more note on this, if you are trying to use the WebCD on a computer that does not have Internet access, but you have another computer that does have Internet access, the WebCD is going to have to be loaded on both computers since the link to the Website that has all of the updates is embedded in the Update Contents page on the WebCD. The software license agreement allows you to install the program on multiple computers as long as there is a WebCD purchased for each person who will be using it.

You could also save the Website address for the Update Contents page into your Favorites menu on the computer you will be using to download the updates without having to first install the program on that computer.

Years ago, we use to be able to get the package X from IRS with all the instructions to the forms. After they stopped offering that, trying to get the instructions from the IRS web site was a pain. I can see where this web cd will solve that.
