I've been away from this and the "other" tax board for several months now and so I would like an update (if anyone knows) on the legislation that we were discussing last year about tax preparers taking yearly exams and possibly being required to have a license to prepare taxes.

Has anything been done on this lately?

No, nothing has been passed yet. I'm not sure Congress considers it a priority at this point, as there are bigger issues that need to be dealt with with all of the expiring provisions and all. New tax laws that get passed now all seem to have a limited life, giving Congress a second chance to screw things up all over again, and over, and over...
