    Dumb question

Does the 3-year period for filing a return and getting a refund, include extensions?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

    Including Extensions

    Hi, Dennis,

Pub 17 says, "If you were due a refund but you did not file a return, you generally must file your return within 3 years from the date the return was due (including extensions) to get that refund. See chapter1."

      Lion,

Thank you. I will take a peek at it. All I was seeing was "3 years" period. I did think it was including extensions, but was not sure.

      Thanks, again!
