    Prior Employment - Bahamas

I know I've seen something on this in a previous post, but can't remember where or when? My client worked in construction for Baker Company during 2005 and 2006. The Company issued him a letter stating his earnings plus the fact that he "obtained a national insurance number" which was used for employment, plus the fact that he paid Bahamian taxes, but no amount given. We will have to include these earnings on his tax returns. I am completing form 4852 (sub w-2) and possibly theres a need for Form 4137 for the social security earnings benefits? Am I moving in the right direction? Will appreciate any replies..Thanks...

If you want people to give you help, you need to be clear with your question. What happened? What is a national insurance number? Where was the income earned? Why would you file Form 4137? Did he receive tip income?

      >>What is a national insurance number?<<

That's what they call Social Security in the islands. I'm sure we have a tax treaty with the Bahamas, and it might well exempt temporary construction workers from U.S. taxation. My uneducated guess is that his income is reportable on Line 7 but subject to foreign earned income exclusion, and he doesn't get U.S. Social Security credits for it.
