Intuit profit surged 23 percent as the company reached $1 billion in quarterly sales for the first time in its history, the Mountain View financial-software company said Thursday.
The news comes less than a month after major server troubles prevented hundreds of thousands of Intuit's TurboTax customers from filing their taxes as Tax Day neared. The failures infuriated users, and the company eventually promised refunds to about 200,000 people at a cost of $15 million, and also persuaded the IRS to provide an extension.
