tax break for sponsoring foreign exchange student

Has anyone heard of tax break for sponsoring a foerign exchange student? Client will be paying for virtually all of the student's costs while attending college in the US. I am not familar with this, but the only way that I could envision a tax break would be if a qualified charity would sponsor the student and the taxpayer could make a charitable contribution. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Yes, there's a minimal amount you can deduct as a charitable contribution. We discussed this earlier in the year. Do a search on the forum. Otherwise I think it's in Pub. 17 under charitable contributions. Something like $50/month.
