    Client Vanished

Have a client, I prepared return, she's expecting refund. Bottom line...she's vanished. Phone disconnected, can't find her anywhere. What do I do if she never shows up ?

How do I handle this...and get paid too ?

    Thanks

As long as you haven't already filed the return, all you can do is just hang on to it, if she ever comes back looking for her money make sure you collect your fees before you turn over any paperwork.
That's all I have to say ... for now.

      They.....

.... always come back, in a year or two that is. Happens to me all the time. I do send a letter to their last know address, just in case there is a forwarding address. Otherwise it comes back to me and I save it in their folder. I charge extra if it beyond the E- File period because I have to now repackage as a mail-out, ($25- 50) depending on the complexity of the attachments.

Well lets see... would it do any good to file form 4684 for theft? No I don't guess that would get her back. How about 8822, change of address? No she didn't give an address. There has got to be a form for missing client as the IRS has a form for everything!
