    setting up an estate

    Individual dies--has property and heirs would like to set up a trust.
    what is basically involved in this.

    Getting an ID # and transfering title to trust name????

    I'm not sure why the heirs would like to set up a trust after the fact. I think you need to see an attorney that deals with estate planning issues before going out and setting something up that will just cause you all kinds of paperwork hassles.

      Estate or Trust?

      You titled your posting "Setting up an estate" and then go on to talk about setting up a trust. Which is it?

      If the person died, whatever assets he had are his estate. If the heirs want to set up a trust, what is their purpose, as that would determine what type of trust is to be established. Perhaps the deceased left a will instructing that a testamentary trust be established.

      A lot more info is needed for clarification.
