I work at Liberty Tax Service. The difference is we are out there talking with people every day. Through our wavers. Yes, the tax book is at nearly every desk, and the software is on every computer. The pub 17 and the liberty tax books are also on every desk in software form. Another big difference is that most of the workers here have worked for our competitors for years. Experience is a must here. So is research, if one of us needs help we have loads of software, tax books, irs website as our browser homepage, zip code references in the form of postal service website, mapquest to research the milages our clients claim various reliable sources. And yes I too have waved!!

Your comment as to how much he knows about taxes reminds me that shortly after the sale of the company, he ended up, if I remember correctly, having to pay many thousands of dollars to the IRS because of his mishandling of some type of sale on his personal return.

Liberty Tax Service
I thought my eyes were deceiving me the other day in Huntsville, AL. I was driving and couldn't really focus on anything but the traffic.
But I saw the same thing this morning in Nashville. A woman dressed up as the Statue of Liberty in a light green coat, pointed crown, waving at traffic. Everything but the torch. The proverbial walking billboard of "Eat at Joe's" fame, except she was promoting "Liberty Tax Service."
A friend of mine in Chattanooga works for a Liberty office there. Apparently, the co-founder of Jackson-Hewitt, Hewitt himself, lost 51% control of the company a few years ago and launched out on his own. That office has a copy of TTB at every desk.
Hewitt occasionally shows up at Liberty stores, and the people are agog. The ultimate promoter with personal savvy and magnetism whether he knows the first thing about taxes or not. Liberty is experiencing explosive growth and is now #3 among nationwide tax prep offices, approaching 2500 stores.
Any one else out there seen the Statue of Liberty? What is Liberty doing that is so different from everyone else??
