What part of "leave a short message" is unclear to ppl? And when you leave a five minute dissertation and you rattle those phone numbers off in under 2 seconds at the end of the message. What is up with that?

You're so right! My outbound greeting ends with, "When you leave your phone #, please be sure to speak clearly."

My answering device gives the number of who's calling at the beginning. I would take anything for call id either.

        I just hate

getting those answering machines with unintelligible recorded messages by kids aged 2-3-4 whose parents think it's "cute" to have their little darlings announce that "Thith Smiffs an' wahh ahrrnofuhommme an' blah-wupp-arrpuhweas-fwaankks (or something like that). About all you can do is shut up, wait for the beep, and take your chances with a short reply.

          How about the machines

When they say wait for the beep and there is no beep?

            So

Curious, what type of voice mail system do you use?

I have often thought tone that the "caller" could go to different mail boxes, for different reasons, and obviously send those "telemarketers" into "LaLa Land"
