    Gambling Losses

Tp presented 5 W2G's. She claims she has $1.00 more in Gambling losses than winnings. Has not presented any record of dollars spent. Last year said she had receipts. What kind of documentation do you require for this deduction? This happens every year with her. Can't pay her tax bill on the house though !!! I do get paid before her return goes out the door. Sound cantankerous? At this point in the season and the hour - I'm getting tired.

    Here is a tip

I learned a long time ago. If they are wagers at a dog or horse track make sure the losing tickets don't have any heel marks on them.

      I ask for

If the Casino, etc will provide statement playing with the club card, otherwise the clients usually have ATM's for the same date and cashed at the Casinos.

It is the client that has a lot of winnings (more than 4 or 5 W-2G forms) that I worry about!

        What kind of documentation

I require that clients document their losses by writing down the amount on their organizer.
