    1099M - Mileage Deduction

I know I have seen this at the beginning of the season but after 2 hours of searching - well here goes again.

Client has received 1099 - non employee - for working with a home builder last summer.
He bought a couple of tools and has mileage from his home to the site. Can he deduct his mileage. He worked 4 months total with this contractor.

    Your help will be appreciated.

    1099m - Mileage Deduction

Ok - just found the thread to answer my question.

I agree with that except that if he is "self-employed" why can't he use his home as his office?

Thanks to all who use this board. Wish I could remember all the brilliant answers. LOL

Dusty, Can you copy and paste the full "home office" part so we can understand what exactly was said.

If he has a qualified home office then mileage would be deductible.

I agree. In that case mileage would be deductable.
That's all I have to say ... for now.
