Hybrid car tax credit

Do you need the manufacturer certification to claim the hybrid car tax credit? If the make of your vehicle is on the list of qualified vehicles published by the IRS, is it good enough? Do you still need to go to the manufacturer and ask for a certificate?

If on the list

If the vehicle is on the list, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but then I always have my clients obtain any backup documentation for their files. Nothing needs to be submitted with the tax return.
