    "Reissued" W-2 printed by client

Client has a W-2 from Hewlett Packard, prepared by ADP. You all have seen a million of these. Except... He left company prior to year end. Says no W-2 was mailed and it was only available through email. Apparently, he went round and round with HP and the only thing he can get from them is an emailed pdf copy of his W-2 that has "REISSUE" typed on the information part of the W-2. So I have no orginial W-2. Can I efile with "non-standard" w-2 for that one? Does that raise a red flag with IRS.

Final thought - I have absolutely no indication that there would be any type of fraud. He has a fairly simple return with another W-2 from his job here in NC and seems to be a straight forward kind of guy.

There is no problem with that W2. The original is lost and the company reissued another w2. It is Ok to file the return electronically and it raises no red flag

Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

Not a problem... use the W2 as though it was the original. In fact if you had all the information, and knew it to be correct, you could print a W2 for the client yourself. The IRS or SSA have no way of knowing what is original and what is not as long as the numbers are correct.

Thanks, guys. Will efile and keep my copies of the current W-2 and print a "new" one if ever required.
