    Does anyone know why?

I efiled a tax return for a client in January. I already received the acknowledge that the IRS has accepted the tax return on the same day. But the client still has not received the refund. So I told them to go online to check the refund status. But the online refund website can't find any information of the tax return. And when they called to the IRS, they were told that there is no record that the tax return has been filed.

Has anyone come across this strange problem before?

What should the client do now? Should they mail in a paper return?

Should I efile the tax return for them again?

I would check with your software company to confirm the Ack. Years ago I had the same occur, the IRS denied receiving it but eventually it was processed with no explanation for the delay. No apology or letter, the refund just appeared in the client's bank account. Never did learn why it was held up so long (3 months).
