    Air ambulance as medical deduction?

I know that normally the cost of an ambulance would be a deductible medical expense, but what about the cost of an air ambulance (to the tune of almost $10,000) to move an elderly man from one nursing home across the country to another?

    I don't....

... know exactly if it would, but I'm sure the travel would have to be for medical reasons> not because the family also moved.

      more details

Client went into a nursing home for a short period of time after his wife died and his daughter then moved him to her state so she could oversee his care. Think that would make any difference?

          Air Ambulance

I had the same situation about 3-4 years ago-client was down in Florida and wife got sick-had to be medically transported to doctors in New York. The bill was also for about $ 10000, no insurance coverage for that. So I deducted it as a medical expense - never got questioned by IRS.
