    social security

    I think last year we discussed this, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me if Canadien social security or (old age security pension) as its called in Canada is treated the same in this country as if it were drawn as social security here?

    I'm going to either ignore it because client doesn't have enough income to pay on social security, or maybe put it in as (other income) on line 21.
    What do you all think?

    If memory serves me it depends on the agreement between US and Canada. I have British equilivent of SS and had to look it up in the treaty.

      IRS Notice 98-23 says Canadian Social Security will be taxed in the same way as US Social Security. Put it on line 20a.
