NEW HOME - REDOING HOME before moving in

    Question:
Can client deduct Real Estate taxes and mortgage interest paid in 2006 on main residential home purchased in 2006 that she was not able to live in it ?

    FACTS:
Client cannot live in her house in 2006 and purchased it in 2006 (1st time home buyer) because it is being remodeled inside and outside.

Lived in an apartment in 2006 because of it is being remodeled inside and outside.

    Thanks in advance

    No problem

I would have no problem deducting both.
