Client was high bidder for a Pig/Hog in a Junior Auction for a 4-H club. What is the best/easiest way to get the FMV for the pig to determine how much can be deducted for charitable contribution? Would think the Junior Auction Organization would provide the info, but they didn't.

Hogs / pigs are sold by the pound live weight. Find out what the weight was of the animal. Check with your local agricultural extention agent as to where you can get the market report. The USDA website is also a good source of information. Could be very confusing if you are not familiar with livestock and livestock pricing. The current eastern US price for 200 + - LB hogs is around 60 cents per pound
