    Repayment of SS Income

    Client received 24,000 in SS Income for 2006. 21,000 taxable, resulting in a 2,500 tax liability.

    He had to repay all of it. Repayed the 24,000 in 2007. Anyone know how to claim the excess taxes payed in 2006 on his 2007 return.

    I'm tempted not to report any SS income on his 2006 tax retrun.

    Found some info in Pub 915 page 14......

      Pub 17, p. 77 also has a bit of info on repayment of SS benefits.
