    Cars use SMR and Actual

    Can a sole proprietor use the standard mileage rate for one auto and actual expenses for another? I can't seem to put my figure on a cite that prohibits this, except my common sense.

          Interesting question. I don't see anything that prohibits SMR if actual is used for one car.

            Just because you use SMR on one car doesn't mean you can't use actual expenses on another. The rules apply per vehicle, not per business.

              I agree, you can use the mileage rate for one, actual for the other. Your client has to keep good tax records to be able to do this.
