    Gub'mint forms

Had IRS EIC pub on backorder since ordering in December. Got three in the mail Monday. Also, being as it's March, the post office is suddenly awash in those short-forms that do-it-yourselfers are scrambling for in Jan-Feb. Now, of course, nobody needs/wants them.

What is about government operations? It's not like they couldn't have forseen the demand -- I mean; from 1913 forward is a pretty generous amount of lead time, isn't it?

The gub'mint is gettin' out o' the printing industry. Everythin' is now electric or Internet. Maybe even those round silver disk with no music or picture show on them. You'll have to retire my pencil and pen. If you want paper, pay and wait.

...the Gub'Mint always does things in triplicet. Order 1 get 3, promised in 3 weeks, comes in 9, etc...
That's all I have to say ... for now.

        You need three copies

        >>Got three in the mail Monday<<

You need three copies for EIC. One is for taxpayers with qualifying child(ren). One is for taxpayers without qualifying child(ren). The other one is for clergy--there are special rules in case nobody knows they have qualifying child(ren).

          Irs

As far as Government Operations, take a look at Fridays' NY Times on how IRS is currently securing input on creating Tax Law. A real tight ship....

their printing office division hasn't gotten the word. The post office display had literally hundreds and hundreds of 1040,1040A,1040 EZ, EIC, 8812, A, B, C, D, E, F, etc., etc.

Same story last year-- a postal clerk asked (again, in March) if I wanted some. I told him ours are computer-generated, but maybe he should get them in earlier for public use and he said they had no control over that. I'm assuming they'll all go in the trash -- I don't know why I'm always wondering where our tax money goes.

Anybody ever noticed this? I send in paper 941s and the glue on the white and yellow return labels is so lousy that it will barely stick to the envelope (this has been going on for years). To make sure it sticks, I sometimes have to tape over the non-magnetic ink part of the address to keep it from coming off. And I feel like somebody's payroll info is pretty important stuff to the client, to me, and to the IRS. Worth some good glue in any case.

By comparison, if I order an unimportant general information IRS pub or even just two little IRS forms (which I don't anymore since you can now download from the Net), they mail them to me in a 10X13 brown Kraft envelope which is a self-sealer with glue so strong that, if you don't slit it open on one end, you almost have to use two hands to pull it open.

It seems like they need a good manager (or two).
