    Sick Pay

    OK, I'm stumped.

    Taxpayer is disabled and was receiving STD payments. Now he has become eligible for LTD payments and recieved a W-2 from his former employer with the following amounts in box 1, 3, 5.

    Box 1 - $25258.71
    Box 3 - $3000.00
    Box 5 - $3000.00

    I am calling him to find out if the payments on the W-2 are the STD or the LTD, but this just looks wierd.

    Any help would be appreciated.

      I know the rules regarding sick pay

      My question is why the payor (the former employer) has put $3000 of SS taxable pay on the W-2 when my client didn't work during 2006.
