When will we get the WebCD updated and when will it update online? It is now February and only 38 days until corporate tax returns are due. If ever we need the WebCD updated it is before we finish our tax returns.

The second release of the WebCD is in the process of being mass produced and should ship soon. Everyone can expect to receive their copies by next week. I am sorry for the delay, as we ran into technical difficulties with this first year of producing an electronic version.
The first release of the WebCD did not contain any of the links to IRS Pubs, instructions, and forms. Since we are including these links in the second release along with all the additional updates, the actual CD needs to be shipped and re-installed on your computer. The amount of data that has changed on this second release is too large to be downloaded over the internet. It could tie up your computers for hours if we did it that way, which is unacceptable for this time of year. After this second release, all future updates will be downloaded over the internet.
Paul and I have been testing this linking feature. The search feature works great, but personally I like the linking feature even more. For example, if you search on a word, you usually get multiple hits in TTB and IRS Publications. If you look at TTB coverage first, in many cases it will link you to the IRS Pubs for even more information, thus saving the step of having to go back and look at each one of the other hits from your initial search. Thus, the TTB becomes a portal to more information in the Pubs and instructions. You get a fast short answer in TTB, but more detailed information in the Pubs and instructions. The links also take you to other section in TTB that might provide further details. Thus, if the initial search takes you to the wrong place in TTB on your first try, the link takes you instantly to the more detailed coverage of the subject.
