    Dependant/Child with disability

I know that expenses for special education are deductible as medical expenses for children with learning disabilities, etc. I am assuming "downs" would be included in that. But are there any other credits that a taxpayer might be able to claim with a child that has special medical needs?

    Check with your

state. For instance Oregon has credits for special instruction.

I don't see any credits like that for California. IMO, California's website is difficult to research. Is this a case where the all states book could be useful?

The All States Book for CA has a list of Subtractions on page CA-4. I see nothing for Special Education for Disabled children. There is a subtraction for Ottoman Turkish Empire settlement payments, but nothing for special education.

Likewise, I see nothing under Tax credits starting on page CA-6.
