      I have

a HP Lazer Jet 2400 which was purchased 1 year ago. 20 pgs/minute. Have not had any problems at all.

        Scanner

Thanks for the tip! This looks fantastic. Unfortunately, my "paperless" attempt will have to wait until next year. Right now, I don't even have space for a scanner in my new smaller office.

Bob it doesn't come with twain driver. You have pay another $300 to get a scanner like that from Fujitsu. It comes with software and driver that on the Fujitsu scanner can use. I read online that they will not now or in the future have this model of scanner with a twain driver. What I like about it is the duplex feature. Copies both sides at the same time.

I've got a HP Scanjet 5550c. It is pretty slow even though I paid $285 for it two years ago. It works very well as a copier and have been using it to scan pages into Paperport. But like I said it is very slow. I can spend 30 minutes or more scanning and/or copying. Just too long.

I saw the Fujitsu in action at a doctors office the other day. They were scanning insurance cards and orders through it. I mean that thing was fast! I asked the gal what model it was and looked it up on the internet. It is really much more than I wanted to pay but I need something fast. I'm sure I will still use the old scanjet though.

Office Depot has a HP Laserjet printer that does double sided printing. I thought this would be a good time to replace old faithful Laserjet 4.

I hate to spend so much money but I just decided I need to update my equipment.

For those that want to buy the Fujitsu. You can get it at buy.com. If you are a new customer you can get $15.00 off. I have to tell you where to go to get it though. So PM if you are interested. I bought the scanner for $415 instead of $430. Free shipping.

                This is our

fourth year using scanners and I'm spoiled. Now it bugs me that I have to stack the paper in the auto doc feeder cuz it takes up 10 or 15 seconds.

                    Bob W check this out

                    Bob W-
This was recommended, so with my limited knowledge and an attempt to go paperless for 2006, this is what I just purchased.

Seems a little more expensive, but cheaper than some. I do like that it is small, and the document feeder is really fast, however, doesn't come with any type of document index program, so I know you have that with Creative Solutions/Ultra Tax.

                    Seems like it is "Twain".

Here is the Canon website link http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/control...&modelid=11360.

If you are interested let me know and I will let you know where I purchased. I think I purchased no sales tax and free shipping.

                      Bob W Getting There

Well I just invested some more money into the Paperless system, so here is hoping that it will work.

I am so nervous, and why I decided to take this huge project on at the beginning of the tax season I will never know.

                      Guess I made the commitment!

I will take a look at your suggestion on scanners. Thanks

I'm using the Fujitsu 5120, special deal through Lacerte but still $900. It is really, really fast!

That's a nice one. I believe that has the twain in it and is a flatbed also. I got mine today and my new printer. Just got it installed before I left the office. Didn't get a chance to test the scanner much but the new printer is so nice. Prints on both sides of the page and only takes a few seconds to print.

                              Scanner

Bought a Visioneer Strobe XP 300. Just right for a small office as it sits on my desk and my office space is 10x20.Price was around $290.
