    1099

Taxpayer leases land and pays landlord based on crop production. Taxpayer receives insurance for failed crops and forwards it to landlord. How is it handled on 1099?
Total amount paid to land lord in the rent box??

    I don't know much

about farming but it sounds like it part of the rental agreement so I would be inclined to include it.

Anything paid to, or for the benefit of, the landlord to comply with the rental agreement is rent.

          so include

as rent on the 1099, not in the insurance box on the 1099??

As rent. If the tenant pays the property taxes it's rent expense to the tenant and rent income and property tax expense on E for the landlord.
