    Client getting reported?

Had a client in this morning who is claiming (wait until you hear this) her
    brothers babies mommas other child.

I explain unrelated, can get dependency since all year, but that is all, no EIC, no CTC, no HH, etc....

She had copy of return from last year and done by another firm, got EIC and CTC, etc.. and relationship was Fosterchild. I explain this is wrong return and she owes money back. She left and said she will just go back to the other firm again this year, I am assuming to lie again.

Anyone know of a phone # at IRS to report, etc... I am also assuming this has been discussed in detail in the past, forgive me for being new to the forum.

    Thanks, Ken

    Let it go

Let it go. You received the information in your role as a professional, and it would be unethical to use it against her.

      IRS Criminal Investigations hotline

IRS Criminal Investigations hotline is 800-823-0433. I have it from an update seminar. So far I haven't used it, but have been tempted a couple times!

        tax season has started

        >>IRS Criminal Investigations<<

I guess tax season has started in earnest. The tone on this forum has gotten decidely suspicious about the clients. Do you really think IRS would go to a grand jury over someone's brother's baby's momma's other kid?
