It says that and I quote " quickbooks is so easy you can be up and running in less than 15 minutes" Give me a break. I have never met an client who has done quickbooks correctly by themselves or set it up in 15 min.

Yeah Intuit definately walks down the middle on this. They want to make the customer think they can do it all themselves and then tells us they need QB Advisors really for their mistakes and when it doesn't work as easy for them.
Do you guys train people to use QuickBooks? I quit several years ago and told them to buy a book on Sleeter to learn the basics. I then can help them with their needs specific to their business.

I once trained a client from scratch. But was a pretty simple set up. I had to redo all his books and set them up new and trained him accordingly.
I still prefer to set up the books for clients but I am not to much inclined to teach basics. The sleeter books, you mention, is this just a book for basics?

Yes it just covers the basics:
Learning QuickBooks Step-by-Step Fundamentals - 2006
I just bought their QuickBooks Complete book and their consultants guide. Wish I would have just got the pdf version instead of the actual book. Would have been easier to look up things. But both books cover ALOT of information.

Tricky Intuit
I was going to upgrade from QB 99 and start doing payroll using QB. Box said program included payroll. WHOOPIE
Bought it, installed it and tried to set up payroll. You quessed it, they reqiured user to subscribe to payroll system. Nothing mentioned about this reqiurement on the box or anything else that it saw. I took the whole thing back to Staples and after a hassle with Intuit I finally got my refund.
Still use QB 99 and subscribe to Medlin for my payroll system, $45.00 bucks a year.
If anything goes wrong with QB99 I will hire an accountant before I purchase anything from Intuit.Confucius say:
He who sits on tack is better off.

Peachtree uses the same type of misleading information, as to the payroll function. They lead you to believe you have purchased everything, and then when you try to use what you purchased, it is "OH NO - you musht purchase our service"Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

I use to hear some people say that QB99 was the last best version of the software. Not all bloated like it is now. Their payroll subscription is pretty high now. From $149 to $199. Really its more they are running a promo now.
The guy I use to work for back in the late 90s would actually give customers copies of the tax table when it use to come on floppy disk. Ahh the good ole days. Intuit took care of that.
So I guess Peachtree has changed their game too. I always thought it had the tax table in it where QBs you signed up for a subscription.
I guess I train also to a point. Its getting into the customization that some training takes place. Especially for builders and manufacturers. They buy the new Premier versions and expect it to be setup. Don't know they still have to do it a certain way for their reports to show.

Medlin?
I have 2 businesses that I do payroll for. I subscribed to Quickbooks Payroll service because I have to write about 50 checks a month for them. Don't want to figure all of that by hand and then put into computer. I just included what I paid for the program in my price to them.
But maybe I should look into Medlin. How can I find out more about that program?
Thanks.
